have you ever had a recurring dream
that crashes by in erratic sequences, and lingers.
ever prayed until your knees traced red with the parquet floor,
feverishly devout, and then buckling over and swearing.
ever held a blade to your wrists, surprised at the coolness of blood
and the healing power of gaping gashes and ruptured flesh.
ever imagined being locked a dungeon, and screaming
until those proliferated manifestations achromatized.
ever had your curtain lowered, your finished line moved,
your medals in torpodity, your bonfire reduced to dust.
ever thought of torrents, and cliffs and vines
so filled with life they swallow and suffocate.
ever lived living on guilt and feeding on regret
and rehearsed in front of the mirror, the facade to wear tomorrow.
ever dreamt of your own heart pulsating in your hands
slippery and bleeding, as if it'd catapult away if you didnt hold on.
ever had a recurring dream that pervades your being, and haunts
like a ghost, rattling those chains in cobwebbed alleys nobody's been.
